DaiN
After bursting onto the planet via New Orleans in 1983, DaiN (aka Phillip Donell Brent) began his metamorphosis from a well adjusted, music-loving prodigy to the multi-talented, Portland-based MC/Producer he is today. Inspired by gospel, jazz, soul, funk, the blues, and his educator/evangelist/solider mother Melanie Pichon-Smith, DaiN selected hip-hop as his medium at the age of 21. Drawing influences from greats like the late Jay-Dee (Slum Village), Kev Brown, Mos Def, Black Thought and Redman, DaiN is about to put Portland hip hop on the map.
